How to Create Photo Books Directly From Your Instagram

Not too long ago, I pulled out Josiah’s baby scrapbook. One of them. He only has about four. Between one personally created by me, and a couple put together thanks to some custom photo books I spent hours compiling online… he is well documented. Then there was my poor sweet, baby girl, Jessie. She had just a pink photo album, bought on clearance, with just her footprints stashed in the front.

I so wish this was a joke. She is going to be 4 years old next week…and still no baby album! Classic second child syndrome.

The reality is I just can’t get into it. I scrapbooked for real once or twice…maybe 10 years ago. Mad kudos to you lovely ladies who get into this… but I just cannot spend hours gluing, cutting and pasting. I am too obsessive and critical of my own work.

Then, I did some books online and spent HOURS uploading photos, designing a layout, writing captions. It took hours. ( I can’t mention that enough in this post) It frustrated me. But what is also frustrating is the thought that if my computer crashes and my external hard drive blows up…my cherished photos would be gone with it.  Terrifying thought!

Enter Chatbooks Photo Books!

This site is awesome! For $10 TOTAL (Shipping is included), you can automatically have your Instagram feed turned into bound, categorized books COMPLETE with dates, locations, and captions!

Here’s how simple it is!

1.  Go to Chatbooks.com ( or download the app) and create a free account.

   

2.  You will then have the option to create your book. I do a subscription book, because it makes the process fairly automated (aka EASY)

3. You can “add your source’ and link your book to your Instagram account. Then, magic happens.

Every 60 photos, I get an email that says my book is ready to be printed. I can log in and check out the layout, choose to exclude any pictures if I would like ( which delays the printing until I have 60 photos that I want) and make sure my cover photo is one I like.

That takes….maybe 5 minutes!

Then I get charged $10 and in a couple of weeks, my book is at my door.

The best part is that your captions, locations, DATES are all included and collated in chronological order.

These books are perfect for after a vacation.

Simply snap away on Instagram, organize quickly on the app, and once you hit 60 photos and wait for your beautiful vacation memories to be mailed to your door!

Don’t want to feature every photo on your insta?

Totally fine! Though it isn’t as automated, you can still upload your images later from your phone, computer, insta or facebook and create your book.

You can also choose non-subscription options to make custom books for events or gifts.

Have a wedding hashtag or family reunion? You can add collaborators so that multiple users are in a book…then just order extra copies for everyone! #mindblown

I am on my 7th volume of Chatbooks and can’t speak highly enough about it.

When I created my first one, I went back to my original insta pictures and created my first book documenting from when Josiah was born, and the subscription has kept going from there. It is important to note that the subscription is not monthly. This is huge! It means that you only pay when your photo count hits 60, whether that takes you a week or a year. So, you can budget accordingly and put a pause on your subscription if needed.

My kids absolutely love looking through these books and often comment on the Disney days, SeaWorld adventures, beach trips and family road trips that are otherwise ‘out of sight and out of mind’ on an external hard-drive.
