Get Dirty in Orlando For Your Next Date Night!
Date Night is so uber-important to your marriage and Mr. L and I always try to think outside the box when it comes to our date night experiences.
Really…how much talking do you do during a movie?
Not too long ago, we decided to try something artsy for a date night. The only problem is that:
I am not artistic.
Like, at all. Let’s just say you don’t want to be on my Pictionary team. I’m that BAD! However, Mr. L is quite artistic…which I envy since he also understands Math, which I still don’t. Some people get all the brain cells.
It took me a while to buy into the paint night thing. But, when we did, I was pleasantly surprised with how my art turned out. Plus, we had a great date night together!

So, when I saw The Dirty Pour Project pop up in my social media, I knew it would be fun to try together!
Started by Chelle Marshall, The Dirty Pour Project meets at various locations around Orlando, which somewhat allows for two experiences in one. We met at the Orlando Brewery where Chelle had the “studio” set up with a cool, outside bohemian vibe.

The whole experience is cool, laid-back and relaxed. Even the art itself!
The art-technique is a type of fluid painting that you really can’t screw up, especially when you are under the amazing guidance of Chelle. Chelle is incredibly professional and patient…even with rebels like Mr. L who sometimes likes to veer off to do his own artistic thing.
You start the evening by selecting up to 7 or so colors from Chelle’s large variety of acrylic paints. The paint itself isn’t anything fancy, and you use A LOT of it.

I chose some cool, tropical blues to fit in with the look I am going for in my office. You start by dumping the contents of the entire paint bottles into separate cups and mixing in some water to get to a good consistency.

Chell then came around and added some of her “special sauce” and Liquitex Pouring Medium, which I think helps move the paint around and cause the super cool finished look…or something like that. That’s why Chell is the expert 🙂
After layering the colors into one cup, we were ready for the first “pour.” I had no rhyme or reason to my layering…which is perfect. I don’t like doing things I have to overthink.

Then…you pour.
Rinse. Repeat…until your paint is gone. A little tilting around and you end up with a super cool, abstract piece of art.

I loved how I could just do whatever and let gravity do its thing. After a few minutes, you could see little cells surfacing to the top. Mr. L used a straw to move some paint around, I added some glitter for a bit of glitz.

You do have to leave your painting with Chell for a few days, as the several layers take a while to dry. But, she makes it convenient to pick-up, or she will deliver for a small delivery fee. We were thrilled with our results and the entire experience! She even sent ours with a cute thank you note and promo code for another Pour. Seriously…she was top-notch.
Whether or not you are a local or visitor, if you are in the area, check out Chell’s page to see if she has a pour available near you. It is definitely cool and worth doing! Plus, she also hosts private parties, kids birthday parties and group outings.
It was worth every penny and I can’t wait to hang my original art on my office wall.

How much fun this looks!!!!!! Thanks for sharing
It was really fun. For those who are non-local, they should definitely try to find something like this nearby ?
